NSW has had ethics classes for a few years now – but many people, including a lot of parents, don’t know much about them. This is because Fred Nile negotiated a deal with the Department of Education which presently keeps ethics classes hidden from the public curriculum.
This is a story by Selena Shannon featuring everything you’ve ever wanted to know about primary ethics, and why it’s not a bad idea to teach kids things like empathy and that stereotyping a person is bad. Selena spoke to a woman who volunteers with the Primary Ethics program, an ethics academic, and a six-year-old girl who really likes learning about ethics.
